The difference in battery life is most evident if you have the Intel graphics.

I get 4 hours easily on the 6 cell. Could push 5 with power settings enabled.

I haven't noticed the squared off edges in normal use on my lap.

Can anyone who currently owns the D630 take a picture of the bottom of the laptop (obviously with the product key blotted out)? I'd like to see what the battery cover looks like on and off.
    I'd appreciate it. :)

    Hey,

My GF has a D630 from work.

    Well:
    - D630 is heavier and a little bigger
    - The screen sucks compared to even my Samsung - which BTW I find beautiful, even at max brightness. Seriously I don't get why people are complaining. Maybe they fixed something in my model, but apart from the poor vertical vewing angles, I find it very crisp and beautiful. It's the 14x9 LED model.
    - I know it's a business machine but the styling of the E is better.
    - Oh, the backlighted kb is a nice to have!

Go with the E without hesitation! What you see here are mostly the problems. Of course they are a couple people here that had badly assembled laptops, but hey, it's a minority on the total number they sell. I can assure you mine was perfectly assembled.

    Sure: here ya go: [IMG]

(Note, battery is 9-Cell: the standard battery won't have the black extension at the bottom. The compartment is the same for both though.)[IMG]

If you need any more, just ask. :)

Wow thanks!! But are you sure that's the D630? I ask, because the pic here shows the battery placed in the center of the laptop.

The reason I asked was, I was hoping (because I'm possibly considering a D630) that they didn't place one of the rubber feet on the battery, so I didn't have to have the battery installed to keep the laptop from wobbling.

Yep, I took pictures of my own system. That's the extended portion of the 9-cell battery you see in that review picture. While that is centered (for appearance purposes and to create a sort of wrist rest extension-not noticeable while typing) the main portion of the battery is mounted off to the side and fits in the small battery compartment.

Also, with both 6 and 9 cell versions, there is a rubber foot on the bottom of the battery, however, because the D630 has an additional 2 rubber feet on the front going across, you can pop out the battery, and type with minimal wobbling-My debit card works well in the left corner-I would suspect that something of similar thinness would work just as well, and then it doesn't wobble-just the very right hand edge moves if you rest a hand on it. This doesn't occur while typing or using the trackpad.

The Dell in the pic where you say the battery is in the middle in the front is of the D420/430.
The smaller 12" widescreen with no drd drive.
