Latitude D630 - Bluetooth?

I hope someone can help me.

I have a Dell Latitude D630 laptop and my bluetooth light is on, but I can't work out how to use it? I need to get some photos from my phone to my laptop but can't find my laptop when i use my phone's bluetooth.

If someone could please, please help me it would be very much appreciated

You should have a bluetooth icon in your taskbar, right click on that and select properties. You can then change all of the bluetooth settings, such as discovery (needs to be on) and security settings, personally, I have never heard of a hacker getting in through BT.

If you don't have the icon, no worries. With Vista, open the control panel, search for "bluetooth" and in the results click "Change settings for a bluetooth-enabled device." You will get that properties menu.

I really don't understand why bluetooth is so complicated. Took forever to get my father's Axim to sync with bluetooth, the settings are rediculus.

Are you using Windows Vista or Windows XP? Sorry, I should have been clearer.

I don't remember the process to get to the properties menu in Windows XP, and I don't currently have any of my BT equipped machines running XP anymore.

That is what I meant by Vista.

I am running Windows XP :-(

Also, am now thinking that as this is a works laptop I may not be able to use the bluetooth ..... although I ws under the impression that if the bluetooth light was on, it was working. I have found a switch on the side of my keyboard that turns on and off WiFi and bluetooth apparently ..... but I can't get the little light to come up. So am thinking that the bluetooth light next to my "on" light is actually deceiving me.

The BT light is only on if bluetooth is not only installed, but it needs to be on.

On my Latitude E6400 for example, I have bluetooth installed, but it is turned off, since I don't currently have any bluetooth devices. My bluetooth light will remain off unless I turn bluetooth on.

This means that your bluetooth is on. Open the control panel, click on "Classic View" and look for any icons that mention bluetooth. You will see "Bluetooth Local COM", don't bother clicking on that, as it is not what you are looking for.

If you still can't find it, browse through the Control Panel, but not in Classic View. Keep looking for that bluetooth icon.

You do have bluetooth.

Ahhhh, I can't find anything in my Control Panel that mentions Bluetooth or that has the bluetooth icon .... :-(

I don't even see "Bluetooth Local COM".
