Can anyone confirm if they are able to get the e7450 with the intel hd5500 intergrated graphics to output 3840x2160 @ 60 hz via the mini-displayport?

This isn't exactly what you asked, but the i5 chip does support that resolution and refresh rate via DisplayPort, according to Intel. I don't have the hardware to prove it, though.

I don't have a lot of static noise yet, but I do hear something along with a talking video being in a quiet room, just from the right speaker. The notebook is about one month old. Will be monitoring that, I hope it won't become to something awful.

Ok - I can confirm that the e7450 with the I7 5600u and HD5500 integrated GPU will drive a 4k display at 60hz via the mini display port output. Looks beautiful on my Crossover 404k 40" 4k monitor! I know the Lenovo t450s with the HD5500 will not drive a 4k display at 60hz due to the GPU being clocked to low.

Excellent. I'm looking to pick up a P2415Q sometime soon.

Just make sure you have a quality display port 1.2 cable. The initial one I tried had issues with blinking.

I just got a used E7450 from eBay and updated it to Windows 10 Pro. Updated BIOS and all official drivers from Dell. However, I'm experiencing a problem that after resuming from sleep, the gestures (two-finger scrolling, two-finger tap to right click, middle pointstick button not working to scroll). Anyone experienced this? I installed the latest drivers for the touchpad, and verified all settings are proper. Changing settings in the pointing devices application from Dell doesn't change behavior, either.

EDIT 11/11: Figured out the problem. Qsync (QNAP software) causes these problems. I'm following up with that company.

I thought I would check how the E7450 behaves when connected to a Dell PA20 45W PSU (part No. GM456). When I tried this with the E7440 the CPU locked itself down to a low speed.

The E7450 is more tolerant of the under-rated PSU. It gives a warning about the PSU and says it will use the battery if the power requirement exceeds the PSU output. The CPU is running at full speed according to HWiNFO. in fact, it seems to be stuck there although I'm using a performance on demand power plan, but I won't lose sleep because the CPU package power is only a few Watts unless it gets loaded. And the battery can be charged, albeit only a few Watts (but faster if the computer is off).

So, the 45W PSU appears to be a viable option for when wanting to travel light or just carry a spare PSU in case of emergency. The PA-20 is delightfully small - 3.5" x 2.5" x 0.5" - and uses a Fig-8 cable which is also thinner and lighter than a cloverleaf cable. Get an old one off 'bay and give it a try.

Anyone have any benchmarks of the discrete vs the hd5500? I've been surprised with intel hd graphics lately. Wondering what the difference is as I don't want to give up the msata + 2nd hard drive option.
