Latitude 7380, is there any real user on the planet?

Sorry for the title but, apart a couple of recent and poor reviews on websites, I can't find nothing since months on forums about reviews or tests from real users.
I would have to know 2 fundamental things
- if the usual coil whine is present
- if adaptive brightness,CABC , is present (FHD panel)
I have these doubts because both problems are present on the XPS 13, and in fact lead me to exclude it from purchasing.
Since latitude 7380 looks like the business version of the XPS13, probably the internal components will be the same and therefore with the same problems.

The new 7380 is not the same as the XPS 13. You are thinking of the 7370 which had the fanless core M processors but otherwise it was the same as the XPS.

 

Because the 7380 has a 15W CPU with cooling fan it is much closer to the XPS13 than the 7370 with its fanless design. However, the latter is an under-appreciated notebook with an excellent keyboard (no fan meant Dell could give more key travel) but probably put off potential purchasers due to apparent slowness (only noticeable under sustained workload) and too much USB-C for for business customers who want slow evolution.

However, while I have the 7370 I've not had my hands on the 7380. I would compare the manuals of the 7380 and 7280 to see if the 7380 is basically the 7280 with a bigger display (eg both have single channel RAM). Notebookcheck comments on CPU while for both the 7280 and 7480.

I don't really need great CPU power on this notebook, it will be used for office tasks (word, excel, browsing and occasionally netflix streaming), in fact I am thinking at an i5-xxxx processor.
But it's important for me a very good quality of the LCD panel and a quiet machine, so no coil whine or fans that start every minute when i'm just scrolling something.
Looking at the online manual, the FHD NoTouch panel specs are similar to those of XPS13, so maybe CABC and a non exciting 300 nits, not the best for a 2000$ notebook.... but are only hypothesis for now.
Hope someone can help me.

 

If you are willing to spend $2000 on a notebook then get yourself a Macbook Pro 13" and be happy

 

Also thought that, but reading a few reviews seems to be having problems with the keyboard, the monitor, the temperature, they removed the usb, there are problems with the adapters ... too bad

My two cents... I have had a couple XPS-13's. Coil whine, camera positioning, and lack of built in Ethernet drove me crazy (always forgot the dongle at the worst time). A year ago I bought a 7270 from the Outlet store. Nice PC albeit the huge bezel.

Out comes the 7380 - a little larger screen, lighter, USB-C, etc. I have had for about 9 weeks or so. Been a pretty good laptop - have had a couple of funny issues when powering via USB-C - flickering screen intermittently. My wife also has a 7380 which none of the USB-C issues. No coil whine and the fan doesn't go banana's. I have it plugged in via USB (not C) now into a dock driving three monitors - no issue.

Not inexpensive, that's for sure! But given I use it all the time for biz and personal, it's worth it to me.

Thanks Teledatageek, I am very happy that there is no coil whine and the fans do not disturb too much.
I'm on a Precision M4700 /Quadro K2000M and when I plug an external monitor fan cycle is horrible...

What screen do you have, touch or no touch? how is quality and colours ?
And, IMPORTANT, there is the adaptive brightness that adjusts automatically?
I hope not , in the XPS panel is present and cannot be disabled ... crazy...

Which CPU? i5 or i7?
And the battery duration?
And keyboard? Good sensation?
And ... well... tell me about the cons .. if you found them.

I was going to purchase a 7380, but am holding off until they release an updated version with the 8th gen quad core i7 processors like the 8550u on the xps13. Hopefully by next June they will have one available (fiscal year ends around that time so have to spend the $$ before end of FY).
