I know this is an oldie but it was one of the best DELL ever made.
I suspect it,s the hard drive ,but when i push start it goes to the blue screen with writing on it for a split second then goes to black and shows
safe mode ,safe mode with networking ,safe mode with command prompt , start normally, start in the last working condition.
I have tried them all. it tries to boot but goes back to black with instructions again. Any help or explanation would be appreciated

Either your hard drive is failing, or your Windows installation is corrupt. If you've got some sort of external connector and another PC with which to test the HDD, I'd do that first. Else, I'd try to re-install Windows first. If either of those don't solve your problem, it's probably the other that's at fault.

Well, I hooked up a hd transfer kit to my ibm t42 and it did not show up in MY COMPUTER and when I tried to see in Device mgr. it would not go there.
It would not go into systems. i even tried right clicking on MY computer but it wouldn,t go there. I have another hd but it is a clone of my ibm and it doesn,t show up in the DELL.
