Been using mine (i7-5600, 8GB RAM, 240GB SSD that I installed, IPS 1080p screen) and it been great so far! I purchased mine off of eBay with a 500GB HDD for $520 shipped. Pretty good deal.

If anyone find it useful, I managed to upgrade the screen resolution without any issues. I installed the B140HAN1.2.

Personally I picked up a matte, 1080p, IPS display from www.laptopscreen.com and it ended up being a Samsung unit. Pretty sure that Dell uses a variety of manufacturers as suppliers and that the quality should be relatively consistent (LG, AUO, Samsung). Also, this was on a 7450, but it seems to be the same install process as on a 5450, based on YouTube videos. Took all of about 10 minutes to install and test. I personally would recommend the matte/1080p/IPS by Samsung based on my experience, because I haven't noticed any backlight bleed at night on dark screen images/backgrounds. This was a straight upgrade/swap from the 768p screen that the laptop came with. AND the display comes with a 3 yr warranty!

Could someone confirm whether it is possible to upgrade the 51Whr battery in the E5450 to the 62Whr one?

I presume it might be the same one that's in the E5470 - part number 6MT4T, as seen in notebookcheck's review, the sizes looks similar.

Compare the battery dimensions and voltages in the back of the Owners Manuals. If they are the same then then there's a good change that they are interchangeable (as on the E7440 and E7450).

    I'll check. Thanks.

Good news! They match up. Both the 4 cells on the e5450 (51 WHr) and e5470 (62 WHr) have the exact same specifications. Looks like we have a winner.

    Thanks John.

It's certainly looking probable and that's quite a useful increase in capacity. It would be good to find someone with access to both who can do a quick test.

I certainly wish somebody tries it out. I am feeling reasonably confident (and hopeful) that it'll work.

Has any one tried yet? I'm getting my E5450 on Monday going to put in an extra 8gb of ram and upgrade the SSD to 1 to maybe. It'll be for work and personal use. I was looking at the E7450 but I didn't like the fact that it only had HD graphics and M.2 for storage.

I haven't, but looks like you might be the lucky one :D

As an aside, you can find the rare E7450 with a GT840M.
