Hey guys, I have a strange issue I was hoping one of you could help me solve. I have a dell latitude d620. I bought this laptop used and always had some issues with it. At first the machine used to have some random power failure, where i would plug it in and the screen would go black. So I went ahead and replaced the motherboard.

Now after many months I took the machine to work and when i got home it will randomly freeze. I went ahead and tried a different harddrive, with the same result. So I tried to reformat the drives and it occurs on both as well.

Do you guys think this would be another motherboard failure? I did receive the replacement one from ebay so you can never gurantee how good those are.

either the motherboard again, or some hardware that is attached to the motherboar heats up which causes the freeze

The only things I have added to the machine are the bigger harddrive, more ram, and bluetooth. The bluetooth which would be the latest addition.

I guess I should take that out and see what happens, I did not think that would really be the reason, since it was in there for a bit with no issue. Although I really do not use the laptop much.

Also, try testing the RAM. Your Latitude should have a built-in RAM tester.

yea when this first started to happen I ran the dell diagnostics in the quick and extended tests with no errors. Than I ran that popular mem test program, and had that on overnight with no errors as well.

I also forgot to mention. That when it freezes sometimes if i just sit and leave it alone for a minute it will start to work again.
