I received a new Dell Vostro 1510 a few weeks ago and have to say although the lid looks nice it's a major fingerprint magnet. What kind of an electronics cleaner can I use and what should I use to apply the cleaner directly to the lid with to help keep the lid clean and free of my fingerprints?

Also what should I use to help keep the LCD monitor clean? I certainly won't use Windex and a paper towel. MY monitor is the anti-glare entry level monitor which works great for web surfing and email but not so great for watching DVD's or online videos. It's too late now but if I had to reconfigure the laptop again which other monitor choice should I have selected for better viewing quality?

Well I guess I'll go over to CNET and ask those guys what I should use. I would have thought at least somebody on this board would have posted a reply, somebody.

For better viewing quality, a glossy 1440x900, 1680x1050, or 1920x1200 would work.
and for cleaning, i suggest using a slightly damp microfiber cloth and wiping the screen gently.

I think my monitor which is the anti-glare monitor has a screen resolution of 1200 x 800.

70% rubbing alcohol and a paper towel.

Won't scratch the screen and won't oxidize the plastic.

So I can use that too on the lid to remove the fingerprints? Thanks for the post.

Ouch, don't use a paper towel and/or alcohol on a screen. As paper towels are made out of wood, they can scratch the screen (particularly gruesome if you have a glossy one). Alcohol will make the screen brittle and may give it a yellow tint over time.

I always use RONOL to clean my screens.

Is RONOL sold here in the USA? My screen is an anti-glare screen, resolution of 1200 x 800. If I could reconfigure the computer again I would have selected a better screen. The anti-glare screen is OK for email and web surfing but for watching DVDs it's not that great. I'll know what to do next time.

Sorry, I have no Idea. I don't even know which stores in the US are trustworthy, so I'll let you do the searching.
