A lot of people on here were claiming getting discounts when calling in and after a lot of persistence I also got a small discount ($100 off). If the person that helps you doesn't give you the discount just call back and get someone else. I had to try 3 times.

$1685 shipped. My first laptop upgrade in nearly 7 years!

I thought I'd done well making a D800 last for just over 6 years :)

I ordered an E6400 last week and then over the weekend I decided I wanted to change something on my configuration so I called them back. They told me they would have to cancel my previous order in order to change it. I got about 140 bucks off on my first order and I told the rep that I was worried I wouldn't get the same deal on the new order. He told me not to worry about the price and when I got the quote for my new order he had cut another 60 bucks off the order and upgraded my shipping from free 3-5 day to free next day. Also the ship date was moved up by almost a week.

I basically said that some colleagues of mine hinted that if I called in there was the possibility of discounts over the invoice price. The sales guy said I was correct and that sometimes they can do that so we configured a system over the phone and I politely asked him if he could check up on if there was any possible way to lower the price. I hinted that if he could I would be ready to purchase.

I was on hold for a short time and he came back with a price $100 lower + free shipping. Not as good as most people report. But it was something and I was happy.

However today I see the same laptop is nearly $400 off!!! I am going to call back and see if I can get today's promotion added to it since it is so significant.

Has anyone ever had any success adding a recent dell deal to an order built just a couple days before?

I believe Dell has that sort of policy, though I'm not certain.

Finally got them on the phone. Theres no way they can apply the discounts to a purchase a couple days ago. I would have to return and purchase again at the new price.

I just ordered an E6500 as well, only to realise after the integrated webcam is 0.3MP but all the home models are 2MP, is it still useful or would i need to get a separate webcam?? Also they dont offer Blu-Ray as an option on the lattitude, anyone know if the Nvidia quadro 160M will support a Blu-ray drive if i buy it separately and have it installed?? (Why have a hi-def screen with no blu-ray?)
