    Hi,

I just received my Vostro 1510. The machine looks gorgeous and feels sturdy. The optical drive and the fan are silent. I'll try to post a user mini review soon.

    Peace.

Like I said the 1510 is FAR superior to the junk 1500.

    Yesterday, I received mine too.
The fan is loud ... the optical drive is silent.
And concerning its build, in some places especially near the speakers, I feel that its parts weren't attached firmly together. But it's not flimsy as the Vostro 1310 (in the NBR review)...I guess that they had to drop the sharp edges design.

    Reviving an Old Thread...

Speakers are 'okay.' The ones on my old Vostro 1400 sound better.

The fan comes on intermittently - my CPU Idle temp is ~55c which I believe to be quite warm. In Comparison, my Vostro 1400 idled at ~36c. But i think this has to do with how the heatsink is designed. When opening up the bottom of the 1510, the CPU and GPU are right next to eachother, so that could easily account for a higher CPU as the GPU always runs hotter.

The rest of the laptop is very solid. Almost as solid as the Vostro 1400, which is a good thing. However, the keyboard feels subpar, but I can get over that seeing as I usually use an external keyboard anyway.
