    1) I have a i5-2430M CPU in mine. According to the program HWMonitor, at idle, Core #0 hovers in the low to mid 50C. At first I thought this was a problem with HWMonitor reading the right temps, but the CPU fan kicks in regularly, even when I'm just loading a simple webpage, so I'm thinking it's not the reading. This seems awfully high to me, and the fan is really annoying when I'm not doing anything intensive, especially since my old laptop with a T8100 idled in the low 30C. Is there something wrong with my laptop?

    2) I noticed the LED backlit screen seems to have dynamic brightness adjustment. When the screen is displaying mostly black, the backlight seems to adjust to be dimmer than when there are more light colored objects on the screen. Is this a feature of the hardware, Windows 7, or maybe even the Intel graphics driver? Ultimately, I'd like to disable this "feature" if possible... or are my eyes just playing tricks on me?

    Thanks in advance
