So I just bought a D630 off one of the users on NBR, and will be joining the Dell business models community (previously owned an Inspiron 8600, which still works, great work Dell).

It will be coming without an OS, but it does have the Vista Business COA. How can I get a copy of Vista Business for installation on my D630 and do you guys have any other tips for the installation?

I tried searching for information, as I was pretty sure I had seen it around, unfortunately I'm missing all the good stuff.

    Thanks for any help rendered.

if you have a license sticker on the bottom, you can torrent the install media, and then use the license key from the bottom to register Vista.

Register the computer on the Dell support site when you get it (this also transfers your warranty) then you can request OS and Driver disks

I've actually already registered it, even before I got it. So I can just speak to customer service and they'll send it over?

Spoke to Dell Chat and got them to send it over. Thank you.

Does anyone have any idea if the Latitude default 3 year warranty is global coverage? I tried asking the Dell Rep, but he seemed very eager to be done with the Chat.

From what i know, the 3 yrs NBD warranty is global warranty.

BTW, are you from SINGAPORE ? What's your specs & price ?

    I'm from SINGAPORE too...Mine is a precision M2400 - T9400 with XP Prof.

    Regards,

I actually picked up a used D630 with about 2.75 years warranty, T7250, WXGA, 80 GB 7200 RPM 2 GB RAM, Vista Business for USD$380. Very nice deal. It's my spare laptop. That said, I'm in NY right now. Won't be in SG for a few months yet.

    Thank you for your assistance.

I just realized something, is there anything preventing me from upgrading my D630's HDD to a 320 GB 5400 or something similar? I was wondering as I have noticed that the D630's are generally offered with a 120GB HDD at most.

Should be just install any 2.5" SATA hard drive and load the OS onto it and way to go.
    I had put a 320gig 5400 in my D820 with no problems.
Your D630 should (99.9% sure) you can use any SATA drive.
