    Greetings!

Here at my workplace, we have a Dell Latitude D620 that when you use the touchpad, you can drag the cursor almost to the button you wish to click on, then it decides to jump clear across the screen.

I've updated the BIOS & touchpad driver but the problem persists.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Stating the obvious - but it affected me...make sure that you ain't resting your palm on the touchpad, nor catching the mouse-nub-pointery-thingy.

Sorry to not have an answer, but does anyone know how to reduce the sensitivity of the touchpad on a Vostro 1500? I assume that's why my cursor keeps jumping backwards when I type? I've gotten used to not working with the mouse, so I don't think it has anything to do with disabling the mouse. I don't even have it around right now.

Open the Dell Touchpad application from the Notification Area. (the area on the taskbar with the clock) The Icon looks like a miniature touchpad and will turn blue whenever you touch the physical touchpad. Double click the Icon.

This opens the Dell Touchpad application. Click "touchpad settings", then drag the touch sensitivity slider to what suits you. You can click "Apply" at the bottom of the screen to test out the new settings before you close the window.

Also check to see if "touchcheck" is disabled. If it is, try enabling it at it's default setting, then adjust it up or down as necessary. This feature allows the touchpad to "sense" if your accidentally touching or brushing against it with your hands while typing.

    Hope this helps out :)

This is while using the touch pad to move the cursor, if the pointer gets
almost to the button you want to click on on the screen, it jumps clear
    across the screeen.
