    Hi Guys,

I am running Win7 64bit (Ultimate) on a Dell XT2 and constantly find the machine grinding to a halt. I have software rebuilt the machine on a number of occasions, with no luck, and am running out of patience.

As a machine with an SDD it should not be so slow. Windows can take upto 3 minutes to launch (after I have removed everything I can with Soluto).

Other times, the desktop will just "hang" for upto 30 secs, often with the hard drive light permanently lit.

No ideas what is going on, but any help would be appreciated. Our Enterprise Architect at work had a look and ended up scratching his head as well.

    Cheers
    Sanj

Sorry, should have said that I have a Samsung PM800 (128Gb) drive. The machine has 3GB RAM and an intel U9400 processor.

WEI is 3.2 (graphics card is poor) but Disk values are 6.4!

Really not sure what is going on here.

Have you tried updating all of your drivers? Usually it's a driver issue, and if you re-install the same problematic drivers on a clean OS, you'll end up with the same problem.

It's possible that your SSD is defective...have you tried another SSD or HDD with it?

Yes you probably have a bad drive, the XT2 uses 1.8" SATA drives IIRC.
