I just received a refurbished Latitude E6410, it's in great condition except for a broken USB port, nothing works that is plugged into it, the port below it does work, is this something that is easily replaced? I don't want to return it because it's not worth the hassle and I might not get as good a one back. If parts are available I would take it apart and fix it myself. I included a pic, it's the top port, Thanks for looking.

It would not be easy to fix. Usually USB ports are soldered into the motherboard, so you would have to disassemble the entire computer to get to the motherboard, then desolder/remove the old USB port assembly and solder a new one on.

If you don't want to return it, I would just live with it and use an Expresscard adapter to get a few more USB ports if you really need it. You can even add USB 3.0 ports via Expresscard.

Yeah, I've since figured out it's attached to the MB, I've already ordered a dual 3.0 flush fitting express card.

If you got this from Dell you should really complain... refurbished units, even scratch and dent, shouldn't have broken USB ports.

    Bought on e-Bay as refurbished...

"Manufacturer refurbished: An item that has been professionally restored to working order by a manufacturer or manufacturer-approved vendor. This means the product has been inspected, cleaned, and repaired to meet manufacturer specifications and is in excellent condition. This item may or may not be in the original packaging. See the seller’s listing for full details."

Guy offered to take it back and admitted he was the one that inspected it and missed it, I would have to pay shipping and he didn't have another one to replace this one with so it wasn't worth the hassle.

If it's a refurb, is there no warranty? And why would you have to pay return shipping on an eBay item that was not as describe/defective?
