It seems that Dell still doesn't offer any Blu-ray drive for the new Precisions and Latitudes.
Does anyone here know of a Blu-ray drive from any other manufacturer that fits into the new E-Modular bay?
Has anyone of you heard information about when Dell may finally sell these drives?
Thank you in advance for your answers.
This is really a shame. Dell shouldn't have introduced its new Latitude and Precision lines as supporting Blu-ray. Because they don't.

If you take apart a modular thing with an ODD in it. you'll find yourself with a stick laptop ODD and what's basically a thin enclosure. If you can find another laptop ODD (with Blu-Ray or whatever) with the same connector, you should just be able to swap the two. Can't say this works for sure, but I'm fairly certain it will.

yeah, that should work. buy a normal bay with a DVD drive, open it up, pull the DVD drive, and replace it with an aftermarket slim BR drive. won't be cheap though.

Yeah... and maybe I'll mess it all up. So, thanks, but... no, thanks. I hoped there was something like the Latitude 2.5" HDD Module that also fits into the Dell's bay. Guess I will have to wait then. :(

There has been an option to buy the Precision M6400 with a Blu-Ray drive for at least a few weeks. Don't know how expensive it would be to buy the drive separately from Dell. Seems to be quite expensive, $505 more than the regular 8x dvd drive.
