    I own a dell vostro 1400 (8400M Version)
Just lately its gone a little crazy.

I push the power button, the blue dell logo comes up and loads, but instead of filling the whole screen, the screen is split up into six parts!
I have six of the dell logos on my screen!
This continues onto the windows loading screen, which after it restarts and does exactly the same thing.

It does run abnormally hot (has done ever since I brought it), so I don't know if that has anything to do with it?

Any Ideas? Is my graphics card dead?

Unfortuantely my dell warranty expired not long ago which sucks cause now its probably going to cost me...

That is likely the problem... however, like HP, Dell probably (hopefully) issued a warranty enhancement for effected models. Take a look at Dell's website for any such announcements. Good luck with your issue; my HP has been in repair for a month and a half.

Damn, Bog, that's ridiculous; a complete new machine could be ordered and delivered in less time. [IMG]

This one definitely falls under the nVidia faulty hardware news. Call Dell anyway, because a defect like this should be fixed.

Otherwise, you could argue Dell sold you a defective laptop and you could ask your credit card company to give you a full refund.

    Try calling Dell.

I am haggling with my local store to do just that for me; the computer's GPU failed 1.5 months ago, but upon return it has been having cooling issues, idling at 60 and maxing out at 83. It warped my plastic table, ffs. Yes, Bog the Linux Badass is pissed. I'll kill the store techies by throwing floppy disks at them.
