I have a Vostro with a 8400M GS card that has only a VGA port. I'm using a VGA to component cable to try use my HDTV as a monitor, but I can't get the laptop to recognize the TV.

I've looked around online and have read conflicting reports as to whether or not what I'm trying to do is possible.

So, is it? If not, is there anything that I can do (save for paying $200 for a hardware converter and keeping in mind that my TV does not have a DVI input--only HDMI and component) to use my TV as a display?
