You never want to buy parts directly from any vendor like Dell, HP, etc.

They charge ridiculous prices for separate parts.

And it's not a drop-in component you need the entire display assembly with cables, etc. made for the IPS as they are different in dimensions and connections.

M4600 has a completely separate motherboard for IPS vs non IPS.

M6600 has a whole slew of parts for the IPS panel.

Cheaper to sell yours and buy another.

    Bokeh,

I have read all of the posts I can find related to parts required to swap to the IPS panel. I know you've stated it would be cheaper to sell and re-buy, but my situation is a little unique and that really isn't an option. I've already upgraded the CPU. I have the 5010M

I have already purchased the LG panel and top cover, but I know there are more parts required, such as cable, etc.. I am now looking for the cable part number and the rest of the needed parts. Would you be able to provide the parts list, assuming that you did the breakdown and compile the list already? It would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Yes, I notice in the Dell store there is a different part number for the base unit for IPS. Out of interest, what differences are there between the two motherboards?
