I've been shooting to buy a new laptop this fall, and had been keeping an eye on Dell's XPS laptops (the gear lust started last Christmas when I held an M1330). But ... I've been interested in getting something sturdier than my Inspiron and took a peek at ThinkPads as well. As much as I like nice colors, performance is way more important. My uses are for web & graphic design, and audio production.

Once the new Latitudes were leaked, I figured I'd wait. Now I'm wondering whether the difference between a Latitude and a Precision is worth it. I don't mind spending extra for quality, and I will be moving to a tropical climate. I'm looking at a 14" screen with an external monitor. Thanks!
