    Does anyone know what is wrong with this?
    I'm thinking it was the new direct x9.0c that I installed that might have caused this problem.

    Directx has nothing to do with that boot screen. Looks like your GPU and/ mobo has gone south

    give Dell a call

    It was working fine yesterday and after a few boot ups, it'll work fine...hrm
