I've had Windows 2008 and 2008 R2 installed on a D630, and have Windows 8 on the very similar (in terms of drivers) D430, where it runs well, except that some 3D applications (e.g. Lego Digital Designer) don't run quite as well as they do under Windows 7 - probably a driver issue.

I am running Windows 8 Pro (dual boot with Win 7 Home Premium) 64 bit on my D630.

Windows 8 runs quite a bit better than Windows 7, even though Win 7 runs very well.

My D630 has the A18 BIOS, (You need at least A17 to run either OS)
I've got 8GB RAM and the 2.6 GHz T9500 CPU w/ Nvidia Graphics. I've read that the Intel Graphics version had WIN 8 driver issues, but I don't know for sure.

I installed Win 8 from USB Flash drive on a second partition to get the dual boot to work. All drivers were auto installed, if I remember right (I installed January 30th.) I may have downloaded the Video driver directly from nvidia's website... I have not yet found a Quickset app that enables all the Dell hotkeys but I don't really use them... I've been interested in finding a driver for the touchpad the enables multi-touch, but again, not I don't feel as though I'm missing much for what I use my D630.

Win 8 Pro is extremely stable and I've no real issues other than the learning curve on finding all the power user menus and settings... (Change can be good?)

    Good luck.
