I have 2 Precision M6400's running Windows 7 Pro and both are working fine on Win 7. I notice Dell does NOT support the Windows 10 upgrade to the M6400. I am not in a rush to switch right away, but I wonder if anyone here has been able to go to Windows 10 on their M6400? Searching the internet I've only found a little info that a few had no problem and a few had problems---but no solid info. Anyone here try?

Right over Win7. I also did an install over Win8.0 on an ASUS with touch screen, and an old VAIO with Win7, no problems. On the VAIO, I did a fresh Win7 install first.

Right over Win7 sounds nice. No hunting and pecking for drivers etc. I keep getting tempted by that Win10 pop-up and even though MS says my laptops will upgrade---I don't quite believe them. Nice to hear from someone who had it go smoothly since I've read of others who had a difficult time. Honestly I don't see a big Plus of switching to 10 when I'm very happy with 7. Did you find upgrading to 10 better than 7?

Under Settings -> Update & Security -> Recovery, you will have the option to roll back to Windows 7 if you find something doesn't work after you upgrade to Windows 10, or if you just plain don't like it. This option will be removed one month after you upgrade.

I've done the in-place upgrade from Win7 or Win8 to Windows 10 on about a dozen machines now and none of them have had any trouble. I haven't done any Precisions older than M6700 though.

Normally you need to install a new graphics driver but Windows Update will pick it up.

Thanks Louie and Aaron for the info and I'll probably wait a couple months before upgrading. I also spoke to another person who has recently done the upgrade on an M6400 without any issues.
