Hello. I ordered a M6600 with a 128GB SSD from Dell. I have a 750GB hard drive in my Alienware m17x that I want to install in the M6600 along with the SSD. I want to use the SSD as the primary drive. I will put the original 320GB back into the m17x. The m17x already has a 250GB SSD. How do I go about adding the 750GB to the M6600?

I have no idea what you are talking about...

    1. 128GB SSD
    2. 750GB HDD
    3. 320GB HDD
    4. 250GB SSD

    Where and what and how?...

Sorry for the confusion. Basically, my new M6600 has only a 128GB SSD installed as the primary drive. I have an Alienware m17x with an extra 750GB drive installed. I want to take the 750GB drive from the m17x and use it in my M6600. When I install the 750GB in the M6600, will I have to reformat?

So i assume this: right now u have:

1- 128GB SSD on M6600 primary - as default (assumed you order the SSD together with your M6600 in config)
2- M17x with 250GB SSD primary and 750GB HDD secondary

What u wanna do, is following these steps:

1- Keep the 2 SSDs at their places. No need to take em out.

2- Take 750 GB HDD from M17x, put it into M6600's secondary HDD bay. Take a look at this:
Removing The Secondary Hard Drive on M6600

REMEMBER to keep the 4 screws from the HDD bay in your M17x when u taking the 750GB out - in case you wanna add another HDD to your M17x later - they are designed to fit in M17x's HDD bay, very thin. If you lose them, you have to order another set. The screws that come with the SSD/HDD you order else where in retails package wont fit the M17x HDD bay. However, they do fit in M6600's HDD bay.

M17x and M6600's HDD bays are different in design.

3- That's it, if you dont want to reinstall the OS on your 128GB SSD on M6600. By default with 1 hard drive, M6600 bios is set to AHCI already. No need to change anything. Plug and play. No need to reformat. The 750GB will automatically recognized by the factory installed OS on your 128GB SSD (which is also the primary hard drive).

P/S: you dont need to remove your primary hard drive (128GB SSD) on your M6600, but here's a link showing you how to do it. Just for reference, so you have an idea.

    Primary Bay : Disk 0
    Secondary Bay Disk 1
    mSata : Disk 2
