What should Dell do?

  1. Offer Vista32 or Vista64 at first boot, and its a permanent choice.

  2. Offer just Vista32 or Vista64 at purchase time.

Would you want Dell to offer an option for Vista32 or Vista64 the first time you boot a brand new PC?

I know HP offers that on their business notebooks, and I am still astonished as to why that isn't an option on Dell notebooks too.

What do you want Dell to do?

I imagine there might be some increased support costs since Dell would have to officially support both OSes...but would a small price increase for the choice be worth it?

An option to choose a 64 bit OS at the time of purchase would have been enough for me.. Although there are some merits to what HP does, I am not sure how may people would like to have that additional cost component passed on to them. Also, there would be additional space wasted by having the setups of two OSes on the hard disk. Users who buy a laptop without knowing too much about it(and I am talking about the majority of users, most of whom wouldn't even have formatted a hard disk), would end up losing a lot of disk space.. Overall, I think an option at the time of purchase should be offered.
