just wondering as im ordering an almost base spec m6400 as i already have 8GB of ram and a qx9300 cpu bluetooth module and i will be ordering 2 ocz vertex turbo drives too

somehow i doubt they will cover that which kind of worrys me as the parts i will put in will cost more than the laptop did lol
iv never bothered with insurance although i have had 2 laptops stolen over the years i just saw it as a sign to get a newer model
i will be throwing down some serious cash and would like to know if they will cover upgrades , receipts provided etc, failing that i would have to rely on house insurance for my upgraded parts ....hopefully :S

I've asked Dell about this exact question. They will continue to cover the laptop, HOWEVER they will NOT cover any of the modified parts or possible things they affect (ie: if you replace the cpu they wont cover the new cpu or the motherboard, since you could have damaged it). I did find a wonderful little loop hole though:D and that is that Dell is perfectly fine with users replacing the thermal paste. Which means if you encounter any problems in the future just swap the old cpu back in before you have them repair it. The downside is that you cant sell your old cpu to offset the cost of the replacement but I think it's a small price to pay for the complete care deal

ps. replacing ram and hdd are both fully supported by dell and thus they should not affect the coverage of the rest of the laptop, only those parts themselves wont be covered.

damn so im looking at around £550 for the cpu around £1100 for the 2 ssd's and another 400 ish for the ram plus a few quid for the bluetooth module and intel wifi 5300

luckily i have 8GB of ram the bluetooth module and the intel 5300 in my latitude and studio xps so i will cannabilise them an just put in the lesser parts that come with the m6400 and sell ther other laptops to recoup some cash

thanks for clearing it up though
