I bought a optical mouse but it still does it so I want to disable the touchpad maybe this will help it.. Any suggestions or can any help me? Thanks I appreciate it!!

you might have an FN function for it, but I don't think you can disable it there. You could try reinstalling the drivers for it.

I just check on my Gateway, it has Synaptics drivers for the touchpad, if I go under the Synaptics-specific tab then I have an option to disable my toughpad. I do not have a joystick thing though, and it mght be different if you have different drivers.

What you can do is just disable the touchpad driver. For that you need to go to the device manager and look up the alps pointing device. That should end the craziness.

I would then go to dells website and download the latest driver and install that to see if it corrects the issue. I would also try to wipe the surface gently in case that is what is making it so skittish. And finally, when the driver is re-installed, go in to the control panel and try adjusting the sensitivity settings.
