I love the trackpoint.

I know! I can't imagine using a laptop without it now! The only thing i hate is when it drifts but it's still better than the touchpad!

I first learned how great the trackpoint was when I bought my very first IBM ThinkPad 380ED. It came with just a trackpoint and two mouse buttons. I wish laptop companies would drop the mouse pad in favor of using just a trackpoint and two mouse buttons. :D

i use the touchpad for general stuff, but i use the trackpoint for more precise moves, like when using picture editing tools etc.

im so used to the touchpad/trackpoint combination that i dont really miss a mouse!! i only use a mouse for gaming, or if im doing heavy photo editing/UI design

i agree though, when i was using my girlfriend's acer and my mum's inspiron 1525, i missed the trackpoint. even though i dont use it often, somehow it dosent feel natural.

my first notebook, a cheap toshiba satellite 2060CDS with 366mhz AMD k6 processor only had a trackpoint lol.

that guy was built like a tank, it still works today!! i used it from 1999-2003, before upgrading to a inspiron 8200, 8600, D410, and finally this precision. All of those models had dual touchpad/trackpoints.

pity dell dosent do the dual thing in their consumer laptops anymore
