My XFR does not have any dust clogging issue and it's fairly newly built. Good paste and what not. What bugs me the most is that the fan kicks in somewhere in the high 30s for CPU and stays spinning while it is logging low-mid 30s.

I know that fans usually have to spin all the time, but the fan for this model is specifically very loud. Like some kind of mechanical wheezing noise. It's a different fan from the conventional E6400. So I would very much appreciate if I could have the fan relax until the cpu hits 40s or 50s even.

Is there any way to make this happen? I don't think anything via Speedfan is possible. Bios and all drivers are up to date.

Thanks for your help in advance.

As far as I know there is still no fan control software that works out of the box on E6x00 models. I think you can use i8kfangui in conjunction with the thermal diagnostic menu (forget how to access it though), but it's annoying to keep setting it up and possibly not that reliable.

You could always consider some sort of hardware mod, but I'm not hardcore enough to say anything about that.
