I have the Antec cooler, and it is louder than the notebook. So, looks like it will be going back to Staples. I am looking for suggestions other than SpeedFan which is more than I want. For now, I would just like some temps and some fan RPMs without going to the BIOS which of course requires rebooting. Thanks, Dave

Having a tough time in the desktop to notebook transition :) So darn used to the old desktop, but it must go, it must! It is too big!

BTW one thing I am loving is the Esata port, man, that is sweet.

Try use EVEREST to monitor your hardware temps.

I don't have much experience with notebook coolers, so maybe someone else could chime in here.

I have a Zalman notebook cooler that I used to use with my D600 cause that thing would get toasty. It is relatively quiet, cools the notebook, is very sturdy, and looks nice too. I also use it on the couch (passively) instead of putting the laptop directly on my lap. I haven't used it with the fan on recently but I'll bust it out when i get a chance and see how it compares to the E4300 fan.

Thanks. I am looking at one by Vantac that has controllable fans. Mine seems to be a fairly quiet laptop and I think as long as I have proper clearance/ventilation it would be fine, but I am the careful type and will be having my entire work load on this, so I figure a little extra cooling will go a long way. Same way that one does not absolutely NEED a UPS, but I for sure would not be without one :) I fix other's computer problems for a living, so I like my stuff to WORK :)
