the graphics card in the E6400 can be dedicated, but either dedicated or an integrated solution, both are soldered directly to the motherboard and not removable

The Latitude line has not in my memory ever been aimed at gamers or the like. The Precision line has "traditionally" been a Latitude with a more powerful gpu. They are business machines that can seriously game. If it is just gaming-gpu that is wanted just go for the XPS series. There are heaps of Dell laptop lines to choose from, but you have to be careful what line to choose. If you have any serious gpu needs at all, I have for a long time thought the Precision version of the 15.4" Latitude is a no-brainer. For some of us, it would be nice to have the option to go the other way - it is pity there isn't an integrated-gpu version of the 17" 6400. It is even more of a shame that Dell continues to ignore the ability of these new motherboards to switch gpu's on the fly, giving us the best of both worlds- a really powerful gpu when that is needed with the choice of switching to an integrated gpu when quietness and low power are required. :)

Regretfully though, the Precision equivalent of the E6400, the M2400, is hardly powerful enough to justify the $200 extra. The Quadro 370M GPU in benchmarks is almost exactly as powerful as the 160M. They're just different classes of Quadro (I think).

If Asus can stuff a 9600M GT into their 14.1" N80, and if Dell insists on quadros, couldn't they dump at least a Quadro 570 into the Precision?

I connected E6400 to 20" Dell LCD external monitor. Occassionally, I noticed some "lagging" on the screen for example when I minimize an application, I scrolled down a page, etc. It doesn't always happen, but it happens occassionally. I don't have many application open.

Is this GPU issue or cable issue? Anyway to resolve this?
