    hi,
I'm considering buying a E6500 and would love to have it with the new LED screen but my eyes just could not live with the 1440/900 resolution of the LED screen and probably I will purchase it with the good old CCFL LCD 1280/800 res. I notice that in that forum are broadly discussed the qualities of the LED display; but has anybody purchased a notebook with the LCD CCFL WXGA(1280/800)one? Do you think that it is any better(concerning colors, contrast and viewing angles) than the similar res. display of the old Latitude D820? As far I remember, the display of the Latitude D820 was one of the poorest it this categories in its class - compared to similar Lenovo and HP displays for example. I wonder if the one in the new Latitudes is any better...

No one, and I meant NO one, on here is going to buy a 15" display w. 1280 x 800 resolution.

It's not gonna happen... Do you remember when the M1530 was first released? That was the only display option and a few people bought them out of hundreds on here that waited for higher res displays.

@kiko77: Have you already seen a 15.4" display with a 1440x900 resolution in person? It's not that huge of a difference in pixel size (only a little bit smaller than 1280x800 on 14,1") and the LED display will be brighter than almost every notebook display you have seen before. It also consumes less power than a CCFL display at equal brightness.

Keep in mind that the default font size in Vista is bigger than in XP, and with Aero enabled, the DPI scaling should be more smooth than it was in the former versions. My dad uses a 15,4" WSXGA+ notebook with Windows XP scaled up to 120 dpi, and he is happy with it except for some dialog boxes which are too small for the increased font size - don't know if this issue is fixed with the new scaling method, but someone else might clear this up.

@Hagbard Celine: I don't intend to use Vista,i will install XP anyway. Most of the programes that I use still work better on XP.From what I have seen DPI scaling deteriorates the images in general.
I know that it sounds weird to keep away form the LED display but my eyes really struggles to read the text in ''Skype'' applications or so, where you can not zoom the image, like in Firefox, for example, on the higher resolution displays.
someone must have purchased a new latitude with CCFL display, come on..I just thought that it must be better than the previous one
