    Hi,

the question is how bright is you D430 screen? See, I thought mine is always bright enough until one day I compared it to a Toshiba P5.
Now I realize the P5 has a full featured 15.4 glossy screen and NVIDIA graphics, so it's not a fair comparison, but the difference is really noticeable.

Problem is how do you measure the brightness of your screen? I only started to worry after doing a side to side comparison to another screen. Sitting by itself, it is hard for me to judge whether or not the screen is not bright enough.

So if you have a D430, can you share your experience of comparing the screen to another notebook and tell me what you think ....

    Thanks.

    Thanks for your input.

I created this thread ages ago, after continues usage I now believe the screen is actually bright (I almost never use the brightest setting, even in a bright office room I'll be on 1 or 2 level below max) however it lacks in contrast compared to other (glossy) screens. As a matter of fact, the more you push the brightness, the more the colors are washed out.

I wonder if there is a way to increase contrast?

Its bright but I'd say not as "sharp" as a glossy screen. But the brightness is more than enough.

For me it is plenty bright, but not as bright as my 2407WFP monitor.

So when at home I just Remote Desktop in from my PC connected to the 2407WFP monitor. Problem solved :D.

At work and at most places in home, the D430 is okay.

Wow, you actually remote desktop from your home PC to your laptop which is also at home? ;)

Anyway, I finally found that increasing the contrast by 2 or 3 points and reducing the brightness to eliminate pictures being washed out works wonderfull. These settings are in the Intel Graphic Properties.

No more complaints about the D430 screen from me ...
