For some reason there is an exclamation point next to this device in my Device Manager.

    The status is the following:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I am using an e6400 with Win 7 64-bit. Any help is appreciated.

    BTW: it says its a "HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GSA-U20N"

I would try the Upper/Lower filters fix. You can download the Microsoft FixIt utility or edit the registry yourself (make SURE you back it up, I can't be held liable if you screw up).

    - Type regedit in run (Windows + R)
    - Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    - Go to SYSTEM
    - Go to CurrentControlSet
    - Go to Control
    - Go to Class
    - Go to Folder {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and delete the Upper and/or Lower Filter registry keys
    - Reboot the machine

    Good luck, hope this helps.
