I aquire this nice tablet with XP installed with vista sticker and restore partition intact.

The vista key is all smeared also, no internal dvd drive. I can do USB install but if I can get to the restore partition I would rather do that, but how?

googled got me something with Ctrl+F11, but that didn't work. Any other short key or hot key I'm not aware of?

Ctrl + F11 is the old Dell XP recovery partition key combination. For Vista/7 it is F8 to go to Advanced Boot Options then select Repair my Computer, let it load then click Dell DataSafe/Recovery.

I would assume the person who installed XP wiped the drive before doing so. How do you know the recovery partition still even exists?

because during installation Win7 there's 10gb worth of partition for OS it said, not C: Anyway, I'd install win7 just to see if i could repair my pc, but it doesn't see the image saved.

I'd told that person if he wants legit OS, he needs to order restore dvd. He said he'll stick with the new win7.
