    Hi,
I've had my laptop for about 2.5 years now and saw that it was heating up and making a lot of noise. I read that cleaning out your heatsink should be done every couple of years for optimal performance, I was just wondering if there were any good guides with pictures for dells? is it hard to clean your heatsink?
I read one guide where the person took their cpu out, is that necessary?

    thanks for answering my questions

It is definitely not necessary to remove the CPU when you dust out your cooling solution.

I don't believe anyone on this board has made a dusting guide specific to the D630, but you can take a look at the D630 service manual, which shows you how to remove the processor heatsink.

If you have a dedicated GPU, I think it will be connected to the same heatsink as per the D830, but I'm not 100% sure about that. It doesn't look like there's room for a separate GPU heatsink.
