I recently purchased a refurbished M4400 and have had a sizable amount of problems. Dell is in the process of trying to rectify my problems. I am considering returning this notebook for a refund.

Has anyone had experience asking for a refund? If so, did Dell try to offer any incentives (a money discount/credit, etc.) to try convince you to keep the notebook?

I'm trying to decide whether to keep this notebook and might be "swayed" if Dell offered me some incentives to make up for all the problems, and wasted phone hours that I have had to endure.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

    Hi Tim.

3 weeks ago I returned a brandnew M4400 due to several issues. I had been trying to fix these issues for about a week - counting from delivery - but no luck. After several discussions with Dell Technical Support I turned to Dell Customer Service explaning my reasons. Without any problems they returned the full amount.
But to this it has to be added that I informed Dell Customer Service that I would be ordering a new M4400 hoping for a better result this time.
The new M4400 has arrived a week ago. So far no issues...

    Note, this was in Denmark.

Dell decided to "return" my M6400 even before it reached me, does that count ?
A new one is being built now...

Thanks for your input guys. I'm glad to hear that both of you have had good experiences with Dell replacing your systems! I will hope for the best with mine as well.

Never heard of that one before, maybe it had an issue or secret/overpowered components? :)

Dell offered me to replace my laptop because it had a dent on the screen plastic frame (probably because they think it was hit at the factory or shipping and other things are probably broken). I was able to keep my system until I receive the new one (which took time as it was a new order (5 days)). And Once I got my new system, I put my old one on the new laptop box and return it to Dell (dell sends you a pre-paid shipping label via e-mail). I was offered to switch the HDD between both machines to keep my data and avoid a re-install of all my software, but I decided to have it all chnaged as the new one had a Hitachi HDD instead, which was quieter than the first one (Seagate).
