My friend has been using a Latitude C400 for years now and just recently the mobo has gone out on it. I'm trying to help him recover his information off the hard drive but am not sure exactly what type of drive it is as information seems scare on the C400.

My plan is to buy an external enclosure and just plug it in and hook it up to his computer via USB or something of that nature.

    Any help?

New info. The harddrive interface is "Ultra ATA/100" but I have no clue what that is since I've only used SATA drives in my desktops and laptops.

So it possible to buy an external enclosure that would support this drive?

The C400 takes standard 2.5" IDE/PATA hard drives. Hence, any external 2.5" IDE/PATA enclosure will support the drive. Taking data off the drive should indeed be just as simple as hooking up the drive to the enclosure, the enclosure to another computers, and copying the data.
