Just a question for people who has been undecisive like myself wether to get the m4400 or the 8530w, as there has been mixed opinions on it.

Oh yes if you do choose that you will be returning it. please be kind to state what reasons caused you to change to the 8530w. people intrested in the m4400 would find it useful to no why you will be changing laptop brand. :D

    No love for the W500?

I ultimately decided to go with the W500 over the M4400 because of price, 25W processor, hybrid graphics, and DDR3 memory.

hi paul386, i never included w500 because although i was gonna buy one myself the incorrect graphics issues with under performance kinda fizzled it out even with a fix and plus there was no decent prices for me here in the uk.
Also the graphics are the same with the m4400 and 8530w.

also to elpenguino i was going to do one for hp section but i thought the lack of people posting in hp section compared to the massive response to the m4400 post figured that it be best to hear from those users.
If more people posted on the 8530w then i poll on it, but i guess it must mean that theres not alot bad to say about it besides the wireless issue (as far as i no) but at same time if its all good we need to say lol.
See i had mixed feelings having a m4400. i got 8530w but i did want a dell as its been a while since my last dell was a D600. and wanted to see how Dell are with todays build. but in fairness my spec i got was so cheap it was less than $2000 to be silly to think about it really. :D

The overall experience having a m4400 has been good. The feeling of quality puts every laptop I used/have used to shame. I would do it again with the exception of paying $500 for the 1700M option, which has now been lowered to like $250. Good luck in your decision.

I prefer the build quality of the last two precision's I owned, but overall,I like it,especially the screen and keyboard.
The biggest thing that annoy's me is the retarded 1.8" secondary hard drive option.

The HP sounds excellent from the "few" reports on it,but I find it kind of ugly compared to the dell/lenovo and previous HP workstation models, plus they need to add LED screen option's........I would find going back to the typical dell/HP/Lenovo ccfl business class, dim, back bleeder's,pretty hard now.

don't be affraid of the leak of secondary hard drive bay !

in the year 2009, eSata/USB flash drive will become to popular !
So, an eSata key will be better than a secondary internal hard drive !

Thanks for your rpeplies as well as the others. Seems so far majority of voters is happy then. i do want to get an m4400. i get put off that some say it gets as loud as a desktop  i have heard its sound emission can get as loud as 47dB. does the fan stay get loud from time to time at intervals or is it stay noisey when gaming like the 8510w (surely some of you have owned 1 before a m4400)
Ithink i can decide my decision after that tho.
    Thanks

This is the first time I'm hearing about loud. Seriously, it took 13 hours to beat Sins of a Solar Empire and I can tell you I had some long game runs over the holiday break. During that time, it just plain stayed cool and quiet. I've said the same in some other posts. I'm using the BIOS A09, but really, don't understand that about being as loud as a Desktop sometimes. My Asus C90, same game, would get hot and those turbo fans would come on sometimes and you'd think the machine was going to explode. Just trying to give you my reality on the situation. :D

EDIT: I mainly play strat games now and don't have FRAPS running on the screen, but I've noticed no downclocking which would have caused some 'lag' or 'stuttering' during intensive graphic scenes after several hours. FWIW.
