So anyway I picked up a 1510 from the dell outlet. The video card is good (nvidia 256 8400 gs) the hd is great. CPU is good (T8100). However, the monitor can only do 1280 x 800. Upon reading further I found that is the default monitor (lowest) for this notebook. However, there is a 15.4 1900 x 1200. I notice they sell the monitor on ebay. I've changed MB, processors and video cards on laptops before so I'm not too scared of doing this.

So I was wondering what type of LCDs are interchangeable with the vostro. Is it possible to simply upgrade the LCD.

For what it's worth, i have the WXGA+ (1440x900) screen and the hardware ID is AUO2077.

The monitor is nice and bright, GREAT viewing angles, no dead pixels and overall it kicks butt.

Maybe some other people around here can post there hardware ID's for their laptops and we can see if we can get a match for you.

How are you getting the hardware ID? I'm in the control panel and it dosen't show anything about the display model or type. I was reading something about the 1440 x 900 is AUO2077. I imagine everything is backwards compatable......

    Hi there

I was lucky enough to get a vostro 1510 through the outlet with the WUXGA (1920x1200) screen and I must say, despite the fact i was a little apprehensive with such a high resolution on such a small screen it is absolutely FANTASTIC!

i can have a word file, an internet browser, an msn conversation and winamp all open at the same time and on the screen! its great

if you can get the suitable WUXGA screen i would definetly reccomend it!

the hardware id i got was: LPL3E01
