Well, I had an order placed for a T500 with Lenovo but they cancelled I guess because they ran out of LED screens...

My next choice is the Latitude e6500, LED back lit, well spec'd.

Any other converts from Lenovo to Dell out there? I'm wondering how I'm going to like the new Latitude compared to the new new T500.

I'm hoping the screen and keyboard are as good, that it runs cool and quiet and is no heavier.

How I'm going to like it I'm not yet sure.

    Thanks.

Keyboard on the E6xxx is excellent, I find the backlight quite useful. I've heard mixed reviews on the touchpoint.

The LED screen on the E6500, I'm not too sure on that. Perhaps someone more familiar with the 15 inch model could comment.

I think the lack of comments here are due to many owners have been buying Dell's for a while, just as Thinkpad users tend to not stray away from that brand. Also, few if any people will own or use to any great extent two competing laptops which spec wise are very similar and are of the same generation.

E6400 keyboard is indeed excellent but honestly not as great as my T60, but you'll get used to it.
    Overall, I'm a happy convert! :)

Does the E6500 offer switchable graphics like the T500?

ie If you choose the Quadro NVS 160M does it also include the Intel X4500?

    No it doesn't.

And as far as the keyboard goes, some people prefer the Thinkpad ones, while others have said that this is even better than that, so it seems like a personal preference.

The T500 doesn't offer LED backlit screens at all, unless they added the option recently. I find this keyboard to be nicer than the one on my T43p -- the damping action on the keys is really great. I'm actually really impressed with a number of features compared to that and other newer Lenovos (e.g. one screw to remove the whole bottom, as opposed to four to remove the palmrest to install RAM on the T6x).
