I recently got a new Latitude E6400 as a work machine, and while generally pleased it does have one annoying problem.

Firefox settings seem to reset whenever the machine is shut down. Things like remember form entry settings, download window settings and asking to be the default browser all reset. I suspect that it might have something to do with the Control Point location settings but I am a bit of a Dell newbie. There is only one location set up and Firefox should be the default browser for that location. I tried changing the location switching form auto to manual, so we will see if that helps.

Has anyone else experienced this type of issue?

Check your Firefox settings: Tools/Options/Privacy. Clear the box that says "Always clear my private data...".

That box is not checked. I am running WindowsXP Pro. I was thinking it was a Dell Control Point issue, but if no one else has run into this problem perhaps my Firefox install did mess up? I guess a reinstall is the next step.

I have the same issue. All options that I set in the "options" under tools resets every time I reboot. I have dual boot with XPpro/Vista business and it happens with both os. I also get a strange uac request upon reboot asking for the uninstaller to perform a task. It then deposits a new Firefox icon in my desktop after I've deleted the former one. I tried searching for this issue but I can't find any info on the topic.

We had same kind of problems in my work place. All of them were because of Control Point.
If you add connection profiles to Connection Manager it will erase firefox-settings to default unless you specify new settings per profile in CM.

We have been removing CM software and replacing it with Ericsson Wireless application for those using mobile connection. Much simpler and faster software IMHO (and CM isn't really needed for anything else as Windows can handle eth and wlan by itself) :)

I joined this site just to respond to this post. I too have the Dell E6400 and my boss at work has the E6500. Every time I open Firefox multiple tabs open, one is yahoo (my home page) Then I have one for Foxmarks, all in one sidebar and one saying that firefox has updated. I disable updates in settings and then when I open Firefox again these settings go back to being checked.
I work in the IT field and have never seen a worst designed set of software and drivers than the Dell Control Point Suite. This also includes the Wave Security suite which has caused me many headaches and many restarts! Dell has release some urgent updates and I can finally use my laptops embedded features with some normality however the Dell Control Point connection manager which is supposed to simplify moving between physical areas with different connections is one of the most unintuitive clunky pieces of software I have ever seen! Special since Windows XP comes with a program that can do most of the same things much better. Another thing I wanted to point out is when I first bought these two laptops from dell the connection manager could not handle wireless connections and was completely useless.
I have had so many problems with these E series laptops that I questioned my ability as a IT tech after repeated issues with users. I hope dell will stop creating software that is so cumbersome and will try to create software that does what they claim it does, make managing all these settings easier.
Anyways I should stop going on and on but I wanted to point out that if you use Connection Manager in DCP and have a location set up it like I had every time you connect to that location it will put a Firefox icon on my desktop even though I delete it every time because I have one in my taskbar.
Also I hate that every time I open firefox 4 tabs open that I do not want or need and I have to close them every time.

Yeah it sucks. Once Control Point got a hold of my Firefox settings the only thing that would work was to uninstall Firefox and reinstall. Now Firefox is back to normal. Connection profiles is a nice concept but very poorly implemented.
