Well after sending back one E6400 and canceling another due to not having LED screens as indicated in the description at the Outlet and two weeks of constantly eyeballing the Outlet for a system, one popped out of thin air last night. A little over the top for me with upgrades but heck looks like sweet deal. I needed the WXGA screen because of my poor vision. This system seems a little too good to be true......but maybe my perseverance and aggravation has finally paid off....will see !!

I also notice price increases during coupon times and then after a decrease of prices. I configured a new system with the same specs and it came out to $1,574 so maybe a truck ran over it or something. To tell the truth I was about ready to purchase new as I have my other Latitudes in the past. Will see. :)

Hopefully there was no truck :). I bought mine for $1200, vs the $1900 it would have cost me new, and looked brand new when it came out of the box. The outlet really is a great deal (and a pretty well kept secret among consumers, too).

I think generally the increase in prices during coupon availability is usually due to the fact that people with coupons scoop up the cheaper systems. If you buy a system as soon as a coupon comes out, you're much more likely to be able to get something really cheap. Even without the coupons the Outlet systems are significantly cheaper than buying new though :)

I agree. I have found systems that had cheaper before-coupon prices during the coupon period.

In general, the outlet prices fluctuate, with no apparent trend, and it is not exactly easy to do an apple-to-apple comparison. What you think is the same system can have different prices at different times, regardless of whether there is a coupon available or not.

I have also found that the Outlet places a premium on RAM. The 4GB system are disproportionally more expensive. Other options, like the 9-cell battery, are cheap compared to new prices.
