    A related question:

Has anyone replaced the thermal pad with a copper pad, and/or added a good thermal paste? It might help the temperatures a lot...

Regarding the original question, docking also increases temperatures for me, around 5º. The fan mostly runs at the slow speed (around 3000 rpm). If I undock, light usage does not turn the fan on.

idle temperatures when undocked (using the laptop's 14-inch screen): CPU 35-40, GPU 50-55

idle temperatures when docked (using 22'' external screen over the docking station's DVI port): CPU 40-45, GPU 55-60

Strangely, whether docked or not even when on idle usage the GPU will occasionally heat up to around 65 (undocked) or 68-70 (docked), and then come back down. Anyone has a clue why this happens?

Any comments on these temperatures? Are your own temperatures higher/lower?

Thanks for the links but no one seems to have any answers to this problem other than trying different BIOS versions.

Have there been any more recent updates?

nup, i suspect that the issue will be resolved when the US gets into Summer.

I'm in Australia so its summer here and its a real pain when your machine slows to a crawl in 30degC ambient, which realistically isn't that hot.
