The power supply cord to my Latitude D600 stopped working and before I could replace it, my son ran the battery dead while the computer was on. Bought a new cord and now it will not power up from the ac, with or without battery in, green led on ac is on, but no lights are on the laptop nor the battery pack. Tried wiggling adapter, looked on the forums and can't seem to find an answer. I know it should run on ac alone, but have seen posts that say it might not, so now I'm confused. Prior to this my laptop worked like a champ without any problems.

Also viewed threads that said on other laptops that reseating memory & charger board might help, but can't find directions through search.

Is the notebook still under warranty?

I would first check that there is the required voltage on the DC power tip of the mains adaptor. The DC power cords usually die long before the AC power cord (which I understand you replaced).

Next try holding down the power button for 30 seconds with no power connected.

Then try the same with the power on. Almost all notebooks will work without the battery installed.
