    Hi,

I've got an e6400 that's still going strong. I'm going to Australia in a couple of weeks, and it looks like I won't have access to an electrical outlet to in economy. I'm looking for a second battery to hopefully get me an extra 3+ hours of runtime. It looks like I could get a second, identical 6cell, larger 9cell or this slice battery addition that plugs into the docking port. I'm curious what people think are the best options here. The 9-cell sticks out the back 1/2 inch or so, right? I'm looking for the best low-cost option, as I don't expect to make extensive use of this when I return from the trip. How are the off-brand batteries? Is it worth taking a risk on a use-genuine battery from ebay?

    Thanks

I am made to understand that loose batt is not allowed into the cabin. About batt, I find that the original is always better than aftermarket. I suppose slice is the only way to go
that way its not considered loose. Anyway you better check with the airline first afore getting a second battery.

    12 cell 88WHr battery slice.
    $30 on Ebay.
    7-8 hours on solid work.
Can be charged on its own without the laptop.
    Problem solved.

I use it and discharge it at least once every weekdays.

Where with the nickle and dime mentality of the airlines nowadays they are likely to say no? Personally, I wouldn't bother but that's the chance I would take. Either its attached or its not and the Slice is directly attached.
Sometimes you get what you pay for, sometimes you don't. That's the ebay chance you take for a bargain. The greatest benefit of an OEM batter is that in the event of a catastrophic failure you may have some recourse, With an aftermarket batter, you have zero. Choose the route that's more important to you: price of piece of mind.
