There was also a thread on the Dell Support Forum with people complaining about the loud fan and cooling issues.. I posted a link to this thread so maybe that'll get more people to look here too

I don't think there are any official support people on here, but there are a few Dell reps floating around. @DellCares just replied to my tweet so I'll keep you guys update. The more cases posted here, the better..

Thanks! I really hope Dell takes these requests seriously. I'm inclined to think that, due to this being their business line whose service is dictated by a higher standard than the consumer line, progress will be made. At least I hope so... I really do like this machine. This may seem odd, but I like larger laptops. Yes, I carry my e6540 everywhere. It's like a tank. I've had Macbook Pro's in the past. The unibody is sturdy but it always felt like I could accidentally bend the damn thing.

Does anyone know if the fan will max out in terms of RPM at the moment? Dell could easily fix this by providing a more aggressive fan profile; my old HP machine had a 'fan always on' profile.

Having the fan constantly blasting isn't a proper fix.. In my tests, the fan wasn't adequate enough to cool the system anyway. Thus, the throttling..

Still having issues? @DellCares wants me to update my BIOS

IMO, A07 does nothing to solve the fan problem. I updated the day it was released. The fan might a a little bit more conservative on when it spins up and down. But at the end of the day, the machine is just too hot... Software won't fix the cooling issues
