    Hello,
At work they gave everyone in my department a free laptop (basically, older laptops that were out of warranty). I got an E6530 with a 1600x900 display and 802.11n.
I saw on ebay that another E6530 was being sold but with a 1920x1080 display. I always thought the E6x30 line maxed out at 1600x900. Was this an option when these were sold? If so, I'll consider upgrading the screen.
Second, do these models have any wireless card lockout? I remember my Thinkpads wouldn't boot if a non-approved wireless card was installed. I don't think Latitudes had this, but the most recent Latitudes I've owned were form the E6x20 line. I would prefer to upgrade to 802.11ac if I can.
This seems like a really nice laptop. I'm very comfortable tearing apart laptops and upgrading them, so if I can make this even better, I think a higher resolution screen and faster wireless card would make it even better.

    1. Yes, a 1080p panel was available on the 6530. It was pretty good for a TN panel.

    2. I have put Intel AC3160 cards on 6x20 and 6x30 laptops and they have worked with no problems.

Awesome! I'll look into the AC3160 cards. In regards to the panel, is it just a matter of swapping the existing one? Or is there a different connection or cable needed? I've swapped screens on older E-series laptops before, but never 1600x900 to 1080p.

    Thanks again.

    1. No whitelisting/blacklisting of miniPCI-E cards on the Dell laptops. Lenovo/HP do this though. So you should be able to upgrade to the few miniPCI-E form factor 802.11ac cards if you want. Make sure you're buying miniPCI-E, not M.2. Half sized vs. full-sized matters as well, make sure you're getting one appropriate for your laptop.

    2. 15.6" 1080p screens are available. The 'problem' on that laptop is that is LVDS and 1440p or 4K LVDS screens aren't available.

    3. RAM maxxes out at 16gb, 2x8gb.

I have swapped screen on a 6520. The 1377x768 screen uses a different cable than the 1600x900 and 1080p screens. My guess is that the 6530 is the same. You already have the correct cable because of the 1600x900 screen so all you need is a new 1080p screen.

    Hi there,

You only need the panel itself since the cable is already a LDVS 2 channel ;)

The top available recommended screen is a AOU B156HTN01.1 with a high gamut and excellent viewing angles for a TN panel.

There was a slightly better screen made by LG but this is long discontinued and there is no stock anywhere.

There are no IPS panels that fit to my knowledge.

Make sure you get this exact B156HTN01.1 model as there are many inferior panels that will be passed off as "compatible"... most are rubbish!

Stumbled upon this thread when i was looking for upgrade option on E6530.
I've bought one with a 1600x900 screen (cable is 40pin and conpatibile with FHD).
I've been wanting to upgrade to a 95% gamut FHD screen, and i've been looking at these 2 models specifically:
    AUO B156HTN01.1 H/W:0A F/W:1
    AUO B156HW01 V.7 D/PN: 0KYYVK

Now obviously these two have pretty much the same specs on paper as shown in this comparison:
    http://www.panelook.com/modelcompare.php?ids=686,12444,20471
    Small differences:
B156HW01 has 500:1 Contrast ratio vs 400:1 of the B156HTN01.1
B156HW01 has 3H screen coating vs 2H of the B156HTN01.1

I'm leaning towards the B156HTN01.1 as these 2 small differences dont matter that much to me and the price of 0KYYVK is almost double that of the B156HTN01.1.
The only thing holding me back is compatibility, can any1 confirm that these two screens will work in E6530?
I remember back in the C2D days i could only use a Dell screen on a Dell Inspiron 1525, generic screen just wouldnt display properly. Is this still the case?

    Thanks :)

for the lack of response i pulled the trigger and bought the B156HTN01.1, i can report that it works perfectly fine on the E6530 :D
