Looking to upgrade my e6420 to a larger screen and a number pad on the keyboard. Ever since I found the Dell outlet, I can't quite justiy purchasing new. Any idea ow long it takes for new models to show up in the outlet?

Can take a few months from my understanding. Sometimes you can get them earlier when maybe they get a stock of some returns. I guess it could also depend, Latitudes are one of Dells best sellers which also means there should be more quantity of returns and possible faster release to the outlet.

For example when the M6600 came out I checked weekly for over 2 months after full release. 0 M6600's popped up when I checked.

I'd say about two months, maybe three after initial availability. The Alienware M14xR2 just came up in stock at outlet, and they were announced two months ago. It makes sense given that the first models ship about a month after announcement, and then returns probably start happening near the end of the 30 day return period.

I'd give it another month or so for the new latitudes.
