The chipsets are the same [Intel HM67], but the physical system boards are obviously different. In theory, a modified BIOS may work since the core hardware is very close, but that can be risky.

There still seems to be confusion regarding the SATA FLASH slot. It's a fully functional mPCI-E slot, not mSATA. Plug your wifi card into the slot and watch it work perfectly fine if you don't believe me.

Also in regards to the E6520 cooling, I put wires under the springs to increase the tension between the CPU and cooler. This resulted in a 10C drop in CPU temps in Prime95. With all 4 cores running at 2.7ghz using 59 watts, temps maxed out at 92C. This also resolved HD 3000 overheating issues when playing games without my 460.

That's pretty sweet, I may try this if speedfan isn't updated soon!

Just be careful not to go too tight and crack the CPU die. That would be bad.

Also I only added wire to the 2 screws closer to the fan. I left the outer 2 as normal, and tightened the inner 2 until the bottom of the inner screw holes were slightly below the bottom of the outer screw holes.

Maybe this is the case with my cooler, or maybe it's all of them, but you can tell by the thermal paste that the cooler does not make even contact with the CPU die. The side that is closer to the fan is slightly raised off of the CPU. By tightening the screws I leveled out the cooler for even contact.

The form factor may be mini-PCIe, but the card itself is SATA-II. It could be that both the SATA and USB bus lines are present on the card slot, but there is no way mSATA cards use USB intrerfaces like the Turbo Memory.

Maybe that is the specific issue with the E6520 not playing nice with mSATA - they forgot to enable the SATA bus lines.

I tried to load the M6600 bios to the PC and the Dell utility would not let it begin the process.

maybee I will look for a raw image of the Bios.

Maybe it's different for me because of my NVS 4200? I have 2 pipes in my heatsink also...

I didn't notice it wasn't making contact when I opened it up, looked OK.

Yes, that configuration handles CAD/CS5 applications with no issues. It is actually very good/snappy at it. You can even do work in a virtual XP environment if the SW is not comaptible with Win7 yet.

I have the 4200 set with Optimus enabled and it gives slightly better performance than a desktop GTX-435 and allows me to work more than 6.5 hours with the 9-cell battery installed.

Yes, the E-series docking stations work great with the newer Latitude and Precision lines.
